SO3 no metal straps?

I assume that the metal straps are no longer needed with the single piece wasteboard? (my kit doesn’t have them) The reason I ask is that I also don’t see them on the parts list, but the wasteboard is drilled for them. My machine arrived today and I just wanted to double check before I got too far in…
