Engraving Brass?

I’d like to cut and engrave a compass rose out of brass sheet and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for (1) the feeds/speeds and (2) a way to achieve an “antique” style finish where the engraved lines are dark (or even black) and the rest of the face is shiny. Thanks in advance!

For feeds and speeds, what we have is on the wiki: http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Materials#Brass

For marking the letters, the traditional thing is a lacquer marker: Lacquer-Stik Paintstick — e.g., https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y3IOFS8

I’ve used brass patina solution, and then polished out the surface (so the letters stayed dark), and it looked really great. I’ve used this one: http://www.sculptnouveau.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=78&category=6
