Ok, I'm not tearing apart my machine to do a video....but here is my setup (which is working just fine). I've noted the travel paths and location of the homing switches. One thing to remember...on the Shapeoko, the switches are for homing purposes only. I've seen kits that you can buy that will work for full limit switches.
Z Homing switch (Viewed from the top)
Y Homing Switch (Viewed from the rear of the machine)
X Homing Switch (Behind the Z plate, on the X motor mount)
Make sure you go to the MDI screen and enter $22=1 (don't forget to click send). This enables the homing cycle.
You can also set soft limits so you don't drive your spindle over too far and cause ginding of the motors. You set the soft limits by typing $20=1. The limits are determined by your machine type (also set at the MDI screen):
$130=850 (I'd recommend 830 though)
$130=850 (I'd recommend 830)
$131=850 (I'd recommend 830)
Hope that's not too confusing.
