I’m not in front of my PC at the moment that has VCarve installed, but I did not hand edit the file, it is a function of VCarve. I think it’s at the bottom of the toolpath variables when you create it? Or maybe on the page where you define stock? I can picture it in my mind, but my mind is, well, not minding

After a few interactions with support I now know where it is in Vcarve. Here is Vectric’s screenshot:
The explanation for the “Rapid Z gap” is pretty obtuse. Theoretically If I do what is circled in Red I am ok although I will probably do “0.1” since the consequences (a slight gouge) are much less painful than what happens when the S03 hits the top and then goes completely nuts.
0.1” is still 2.54mm, should be plenty of clearance on non-irregular surfaces.
