Tool to create STL (3D) files from pixel images

Just added a section at: https://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/CAD#Image_Depth_Maps (interesting contrast to: https://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/CAM#Images )

because of:

https://github.com/jeremysimmons/heightmap2stl-gui — converts a pixel image into a 3D STL file.

Anyone know of any other tools like this which were missed?

Scorchworks has one (it doesn’t make stl files though). I tried it on a small project and it worked well.

dmap2gcode

Thanks! That one is listed at: https://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/CAM#Images since it makes G-Code / is a CAM tool.

This tool seems a new class of software in that it makes an STL file which then requires CAM (or could be edited or used w/ other files?)

I’m trying to find something to make an stl out of a large point cloud, but have been striking out on a combination of both free and working.
