where do you connect the two wires to the controller, how well will it work?

You should connect one wire to the touch plate and the other wire to the end mill. Convention I have seen says the end mill should be ground.

I could be wrong, but I think he was asking about the other end. Where on the controller board? I think there are different versions of the board with the connector in different places. Perhaps this post is helpful:
