Z axis stepper motor stuttering while engaged

z axis stepper motor is stuttering during operation. Checked all connections and mounting. Motor moves freely when not powered. Any help appreciated.

Please check your wiring — usually awful noises are usually caused by a wiring fault.

If that doesn’t address it, please contact support@carbide3d.com

I’ll give it a shot. Thank you.

Thanks, after a little investigating I found there’s no continuity on the green wire of the extension cable for the z motor. I’ll send an email to carbide3d support and hopefully it won’t take too long to get a replacement.

I have the same issue — I’ve contacted support but don’t seem to be getting any movement in getting a new harness sent my way. Any potential problems in cutting the connectors and building a new wiring assembly myself?

If I have the right ticket, you’ve been sent a replacement — just waiting on the shipping company to scan it into their systems. I’ve added a note that this should be checked on.

The Molex connectors are a big nod towards convenience — one can wire up the machine in any way that one wishes so long as there aren’t any solder joints where they would be flexed and stressed.
