110v transformer UK

Have just got my 65mm VFD spindle. Does anyone have experience or advice regarding specification of a 20v to 110v step down transformer to use in my workshop which has only RCD circuits

Do you have a specific transformer in mind?

I use one to run my:

Mafell Spindle with manual tool change FM 1000 WS or PV-WS

Hi Guys, I just found that Maffell got two new spindles out with a manual quick tool change. FM 1000 PV-WS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1cJW_xCCQs what you are thinking about ? did some of you is already using Maffell spindles ? The only thing that keeps me away from this are the Brushes… i am using a Chinese spindle and that thing performes super and it is very quiet even with air cooling im around 60db. (without load) But a missing tool change always bothers me… what are you thinki…

but I use it in the other direction (step-up from 110V to 220V) for a quite different unit.

Hopefully @Luke can advise on a unit.

Hi Will
Don’t have a specific transformer just wondered:
1 - is there a specific unit known to be good for the vfd spindle &
2 - is there an issue with powring the transformer on a 240v RCD protected ring main
Any thoughts or advice most welcome

My understanding is that the electrical characteristics of the transformer have to be matched with the power requirements, but that’s all I’m comfortable with saying — there is a link to the unit I’m using in the thread linked above.
