1965 Rambler Armrests

Yes, car parts for a 1965 Rambler Ambassador. The owner could not find replacements pads for his tired old armrests and asked if I could help. This became a very satisfying project with decent mix of machine and hand work. Four door car, four handles/armrests.

Very cool. I watch car restoration videos on youtube. It is amazing the craft of the car builders. The Rambler is a pretty car but was not that popular when it was made so there are few parts donors these days. If you had a Mustang you can find plenty of donors but the more rare cars are hard to find parts for. I have seen people make dash boards with their Shapeoko here on the forum.

Very satisfying making things for other people.

Are you going to submit these to the goverment for crash testing. Many of the old cars were full of crash hazards and I personally bumped my knees and head on a lot of old dashes.

You hit that on the head. Most parts for a 1960s Mustang are still available. Same for a 3100 Series Chevy pickup (I have one) down to the window cranks and hood blots. But a 1965 Rambler Ambassador 4-door is a whole 'nother story.
The owner has had this car for some time and knows it will never be a great collector item, but he is in the movie car business and it gets rented out several times a year. Plus it runs good and is mostly complete original condition. Thus it would be a shame to let it waste away.

I used a 1/4 #205 to cut the edge and McFly to clear the top. Made pretty quick work of it.
