2 different tools on same layer path

I am modifying a laser cut pattern to a bit cut pattern. I am having issue with 2 different tools cutting on same layer, separately of course. Since my wood is 1/4" plywood, I’m doing a detail cut with a 30° v bit to score and do fine details (only 1/8" deep) on layer “A”. Then I’m trying to do pocket cut with a 1/8" endmil on larger detail area the full 1/4" depth on layer “A”. Problem is that carbide create will only let me use either or but not both. Any suggestions

sorry I guess my computer or carbide was running slow. Its working now. I’ve been trying to get it to work for a couple of hours. Thanks

It would be easier for us to help if you uploaded the file and see the tool paths and how they are interacting.

You don’t have to assign the geometry to a toolpath using layers. You can use “Currently Selected”. You could group the different geometry to make selection easier.

If you’re using some of the same geometry on both cuts, to use layers you’d need to copy the shared geometry to the other layer.

If you want geometry from more than one layer, you could select the layer & select everything on that layer, then select the remaining geometry & use “Currently Selected” when picking geometry fro the toolpath.

Or did I misunderstand?

There are two ways to do this:

  • Carbide Create Pro has REST machining for pockets

  • Carbide Create allows assigning two tools to a Contour toolpath:

sorry I guess my computer or carbide was running slow. Its working now. Thanks
