I’ve always wanted to be able to make my own 3D models. Played around with some public domain stuff and didn’t have a lot of luck. I continued pursuing it and ran across something that seems to work.
I added the Widar app to my Android phone. It seems easy to make your 3D model. I just put one of my tools on a turntable and had Widar take a bunch of photos. It would then upload them to the ‘cloud’ for processing. First time I tried, it failed to finish processing so I deleted it and tried again. I left the app open this time until processing finished.
I then edited the results to get rid of the turntable etc. I tired to download the result and much to my dismay I had to pay. About $5 per month. For $5 it was worth the test. Downloaded the model, imported it into Vcarve and cut it.
I am very impressed with the result. I have no connection to Widar. I did not even get a free month to review it.
But, this is my $0.02 and I’m sticking to it ( at least until I get an utter failure in modeling )
