Good morning. Last night I set up a 3d rough path to mill some bamboo down. Everything was going well but I could see the path was blowing right by the .6 material left command, I stopped the job at about the half way point and ended up w/a board just under 1/2 inch. It seems like the machine was going to take away 6. Is this somehow an inverse command?
Also I added the Amana RC-2265, may I have missed something in those inputs that are causing the machine to miscalculate its position?
Is it possible my bit zero is out of calibration?
I triple checked my starting thickness before starting
After setting zeros with the bitzero, until you get confident with it, remove the bitzero & move the tool to X0Y0, then carefully down to Z0 or the top of stock to double-check your zero.
“Material Left” should be in addition to the 3D model surface. So if the outer edges or the greatest depth on your 3D model should leave a 1/2" of material, and you use .6" material left, then that surface should be at least 1.1" thick. It’s the amount of material you want left for the finish path to remove. Typically, in inches I use anywhere from 0.010" - 0.050". 0.6" seems like a lot.?
Ahhh so it’s a matter of simple subtraction. I start w/.78 so I should have entered .18?

Sounds like you want to take 0.180 off, leaving 0.100 for the finish path. So you would enter 0.100 in the “Material Left” field. Again, sounds like a lot to leave for finish.
