Do had one of kide with changing bits and in the process he damaged the thread on the router.
Whats the sizing on it?
There are replacement nuts/collets at:
Its the thread on the spindle, not the actual nut.
Need to know what type of tap and die i need to get. Is it SAE or Metric size?
Here are two threads which discuss this:
Usual preface, I’m with PreciseBits so while I try to only post general information take everything I say with the understanding that I have a bias.
The short answer is that it depends. I believe that there have been 2 sizes of the 65mm spindle.
However, for ER spindles the thread sizes are:
ER11 Std: M14 x 0.75
ER11 Mini: M13 x 0.75
ER16 Std: M22 x 1.5
ER16 Mini: M19 x 1.0
Check a good section of the thread with a set of calipers to confirm. That said, we usually don’t recommend taking a die to spindles. You are usually better off using files to re-dress the threads.
Hope that’s useful. Let me know if there’s something I can help with.
Yeah, that’s what I thought you were talking about. That one says it’s ER11. So, it would be either the M14 x 0.75 (standard thread) or M13 x 0.75 (mini thread).
Again though, I wouldn’t recommend taking a die to it but redressing with files.
