Things I’ve learned this week:
That I don’t own a square square, that because of that my machine is not square or precisely set up. How to square up my machine and precisely set it up, I need to run thru the Precise Bits’ Feed and Speed tutorial. Run practice cuts until they are successful in all materials I plan to work with and at their required depths of cut, Record those successful cut’s Feed and Speed results. Also test cut with the regular router bits I plan to use and record those Feeds and Speeds. Than maybe I’ll be ready to cut out the projects that I’ve already have cutting files for, except than I’ll first have to adjust the tools list with the recorded feeds and speeds and resave the adjusted cutting files. All that time I’ve spent working the svg files into cutting files was just for learning because I could have squared up, set up precise, worked the tutorial, practiced cutting, recorded good Feed Rates, and than worked up my projects and maybe I’d have been here now working projects rather than starting all over from the starting line where I was a month ago. Oh well, maybe someone else can learn from my adventure which is why I posted this anyways. In “bold” is the lesson for other newbies at my expense. Good Luck.

Very good points.
I’ve been trying to add a new tool in my CAM when I successfully find a good speed for a material and job.
I haven’t had the patients to do it like Precise bits says to do. I always want to jump right in.
I usually start a little high, and work my way down.
My CAM computer and my Shapeoko is about 400’ feet apart. I walk for miles some days tweaking my programs. I wish CM had feed speed over rides.
