Just downloaded Create V8 and I cannot seem to figure out how to move vectors to different layers. When I click “L” for the old shortcut I receive the following message:
But when I look on the left side panel there is no way for me to change layers.
What am I missing?

Interesting, the layer panel should look like…
Was this an imported part from a previous version?

If you right-click at the top of the layer panel where that “DEFAULT” line should be…?
Did you create the part from scratch, or did you import it or open a part that was saved in a previous version of CC?
Try saving the part & re-opening it.

How was that file created? Did you make it or import a file?

I have only used basic rectangles from inside carbide create, no imports. I have tried right clicking in the layers area, pressing L to have the layers pop up, right clicking individual vectors and right clicking multiple. Also have closed and saved the file, then reopened.

There have been a couple of instances of this reported, but no one has yet reported a step-by-step on how to cause this state.
Please send any such files to us at support@carbide3d.com
Please try opening this file:
blank_v8.c2d (44 KB)
Then if need be, import any problematic files and re-save them using new filenames to a local drive.

All,
Thank you for the help. So I shutdown my computer, restarted it, copied the vectors and opened a new file… and what do you know it all works now.
Thanks everyone for the help.

The Default layer should show up in the Design window before you start drawing or importing a project. I’d reinstall CC and see if that fixes the problem.

Does the original problem file still show the problem ?
You mentioned “copying vectors” and a new file.
If the original file is still suspect, don’t resave it, send it to the support email.
