Actual cut different from file

I have been using vcarve pro to design my projects and everything is going well until I designed a yard sign for my construction business… it appears that all of what it carved is correct only it is off of alignment to where the vcarve file said it should be. double checked all measurements in the vcarve file and it apperars to be perfect just skewed the right side of the of the carving along with the “S” in the top left? any ideas?!

anyway to upload the .crv file so we can look at it? Almost looks like half the image was centered but not recalculated.

this is my first time using the forum… how do I upload the crv file?

it says it is not an authorized file format

you’ll have to compress it to a zip file.

construction logo.zip (1.1 MB)

let me know if that worked ….thanks so much!

Yes sir, got it. I’ll take a look at it.

thanks again…your the man!

I wasn’t able to quite replicate what came out in your cut. I did recalculate and preview, looks like you nailed it. Was this the only cut that this happened on? What post processor did you use?

The other thing would be absolutely positive that your work piece will not move during the cut. (tape, clamps, brads, etc)

yes I only tried this once… I am going to buy a sheet of half inch pvc to carve this out of but it is 100 a sheet so don’t want to mess it up… I transferred the file to carbide motion as that is all I have tried before! I am positive that the piece didn’t move as I pin nailed it down …. prob over killed nailing it.

it is possible that my dust collector hose got in the way when I wasn’t looking but I don’t think that would throw it out of whack in so many spots

is there a better post processor to use?

Looks like lost steps. Check the machine mechanically.

belts seem tight enough …what else would I look for to check?

loose set screw on your steppers or the set screw is not on the flat.

As far as Post Processors, are you using the bitsetter or just exporting one file at a time?

Pulley set screws, eccentric V wheels, and belts (again).

Also, cutting slots is hard — add geometry or use a smaller endmill to reduce tooling engagement?

ok I will check all of those! thanks for the help! I am not using a bit setter that is all one bit and one file. I have not done any multiple bit file ……yet!

@CncTed you didn’t answer this question. Another way to ask it is did you recalculate your toolpaths right before you created the gcode? Perhaps you moved something around or changed the material size and didn’t recalculate all the toolpaths?
