OK … I created a small project for a test in Create, using a very small bit to cut some type, went over to Motion to set up the project using the smart probe to set the all to zero and the tool is not listed in the drop down menu, therefore I had to punt, AGAIN … how do you add a tool to that menu …???
I’m afraid that you can’t. Carbide Motion’s list of tools is hard-coded. You’ll need to Probe with one of them, or a machined rod which matches the stated diameter, then change to your tool and Probe for Z.
I’m having the exact same issue Will. I have a touch probe but I’m not clear about your explanation. Would you mind explaining the solution again please?
You have a non-standard endmill you wish to use — start by installing a standard endmill. Probe using it — that will set the zero relative to the tip and center. Install the non-standard endmill — X and Y are good, since they are set to the center and invariant of the diameter — Probe for Z to set that and you’re set.
Easy enough, thank you
