I’m working on a ring display box and I’m having trouble getting the text to simulate correctly. The finished surface of the final product will be recessed .75" into the box lid with the epoxy being poured .125". What bits would be needed to get this done properly? File attached, although some of the toolpaths are disabled and the text toolpaths dont have the correct depths since I was playing around with it trying to get it to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Your material is about an inch thick. So t he initial pockets are about at the limits of c3d tools. Could you consider making the base less tall, do your carving and epoxy and then glue on an outside piece the shape of the baseball diamond and then attach your lid. The problem with a .75" deep pocket is vee bits are not that long and you may hit the collet on the sides of the pocket especially at the top with the W. Basically you make your box in 3 pieces. The center just being a pocket cut all the way so you have just the sides left and glue that on to the base with the epoxy.
So the pocket with the epoxy poured in the bottom is 0.75" deep?
Therefor you first pocket is 0.875 deep to allow 0.125" for the epoxy, correct?
Are you going to machine the epoxy flat at 0.750" after it’s poured?
Either way, your engraving paths should start at 0.750" and finish at 0.875, or whatever depth you want them, just below 0.75.
And you will need to lie on the initial pocket path & change it to the finish depth with the epoxy of 0.750 to get the simulation to look right. Or disable initial pocket & simulate Epoxy Zero & the other pockets.
I set red start: 0.750 max: 0.800, white start: 0.750 max: 0.850, blue start 0.750 max: 0.900 just so I could see what each path is cutting. If you’re pouring the epoxy one color at a time set the max depth the same for all 3.
My main issue is getting the text correct and clean. I dont know if I’m trying to use too big of a bit to cut time, or what. I’m expecting to make a few more of these if this first one goes like I think it should.
Your reply gave me an idea. Do the epoxy part separate, then insert it into the lid once it’s done! This may be the way to go.
If you want the corners sharp, do each color using advanced V-Carve rather than pocket.
