Need to work up a mounting plate and dust collection option (also curious if I can find a small binder which will fit the loop staples for the manual), but a slightly more pressing issue is the collet situation.
It natively fits 8mm tooling of which I have some, but not much, and there was a 1/8" collet available, but the other size was 6mm, which despite being described as 1/4" on the product page:
I’ve ordered an Amana RB-106, and have an e-mail in to the sales folks at Elaire Corp. to try to have one made up, but was curious if anyone else knew of any other 8mm–6.35mm reducing sleeves, or a machine shop which could turn down the 6mm sleeve I have to an internal diameter of 6.35mm.
I’ve already ordered the Amana part (it was $5.06 plus s/h) — I’m hoping that there’s a better option available.
If I had a metal-working lathe, I’d try boring out the internal diameter of the sleeve I have — if anyone knows of a machine shop which would be willing to do that, I’d be glad of their contact information.
@cgarman 4130 may be hardenable, but it’s not bearing stock and 3/16" is under 8mm. Either way I get the idea @WillAdams doesn’t have a centerless grinder. For the kind of rotational speed on this beautiful new spindle of his, the GD&T is far tighter than what someone can make at home.
