Are the end mills that shipped with the Shapeoko sufficient for cutting aluminum?

I’m interested in cutting aluminum 6061 and was wondering if the end mill that came with the Shapeoko will be good for this type of material. I think this is the end mill that it came with https://shop.carbide3d.com/collections/cutters/products/201-25-end-mill-cutter-qty-2?variant=1256409455

Yes , but you can find more hard tools .

Yes, all of our endmills work well in aluminum — you may want to get a set of the coated ones — they markedly reduce the possibility of aluminum galling on the endmill and work better overall.

Great idea, will look into this as well

Thanks guys!

Work/sufficient: Yes. With some care. Ideal: No. Coated (with the right coating…carbide offers a ZrN coating on one that works pretty well) has much better results. Still requires care, and it’s much more finicky than wood or plastic, but work very well.
