I am doing my first Advanced Vcarve. Following the YouTube Video. I am running CM 6.4 and CC 7.78
I can successfully cut the Pocket by saving the advanced vcarve file and the contour file seperately.
When I create the Male Inlay piece I select the Male Inlay (after it has been Vertical Flipped) and the 5mm offset vector so 2 vectors in total. I have the Enable Area Pocket Tool and Cut Pockets First Ticked I have an 1/8" #102 for Pocket Tool and a Second Tool 60 V Bit At the bottom of the Advanced Vcarve I have Inlay Plug Mode Ticked. I save the Vcarve file separately and the Contour (Outside cut) seperately. However the Vacare has 2 bit changes and there is no way to seperate the bit changes into different files.
So what happen is I put the 1/8" bit #102 into Router set the X,Y and Z using the BItzero V 2.0
It cuts the first half then ask for a bit change where I put the V-Bit in. HOW DO WE SET THE Z HEIGHT PRIOR TO MAKING THE Vcarve cut? Or how do we seperate the Pocket tool from the Vcarve 60 Bit?
I have a shapeoko 4XXL with Bitzero v2.0 I also have BitSetter but it is disabled mainly because it sits at a different height than my work piece and to be fair I have never been able to get it to work repeatably accurate. Z- Height is Always an issue when using the Bit Setter. Any Insite would be helpful.
So what happens when your work piece sits several inches above the work surface? When I enable the Bitsetter option and zero the tool then it drives into my work piece. So I am confused on how to set this up correctly
Okay I think I have figured it out. I just need to change my Material thickness. Let me try some test cuts with Bit Setter enabled. Thanks for your help
The bitsetter doesn’t need to be at the same level as your material. It isn’t setting your Z height, it’s measuring the relative length of the bit and then when you change bits it knows how to adjust. If the second bit is 1/4” “shorter” then the bitsetter adjusts the Z position to accommodate on the fly.
Bitzero is for setting your Z height. Or use the paper method. If you have a job with multiple tools you either need the bitsetter or split the files by tool.
