Bit for Fine Detail Contour on PVC

Good Morning All,

Hoping for a solution for this. I’m cutting shapes from PVC vinyl. I’m fine with using the 1/8" bit for most of the work. It cuts beautifully. It’s a single flute O upcut bit.

I need to cut smaller shapes and need to cut with a 1/16" bit for it. What do you recommend? I’m cutting through .48". I can’t find a single flute upcut bit that can cut that deep.

Any recs?

Garr Tools sells a long-reach 1/8" tool, 2-flute and quite aggressive — they might have something along those lines, or check w/

@TDA might be able to advise.

Maybe consider using a 30° or 15° vee bit if the application allows. When I first started my CNC journey, I struggled with wanting flat/clean sidewalls on my carves but discovered that an advanced v-carve with a 30° vee bit accomplished what I needed… with the added advantage of sharp inner corners.

One difference. I am using HDU and haven’t used PVC vinyl ever, though I also use this method on wood. So…TEST TEST TEST!!
