Bit runner V 2 stanard

Just installed bit runner V2. The spindle enable on/ off switch glows red. Is that correct or should it glow blue

Red means it is enabled. I guess a warning not to put your fingers there.

I have a v1 BitRunner and it glows red when the router if off and glows green when the router is turned on. Plus dont forget to turn on the router switch and leave it on to get automatic control.

Hmm, Guy I actually have the V1 as well and mine is red when the router is “enabled”. I don’t think it shows anything different when it is actually running but maybe I just haven’t noticed. Maybe I have mine plugged in backwards.

EDIT: Just Checked. Mine is red when the router is enabled, off when the router is disabled. There is no change when the router is spinning.

What was not spinning was my brain, I just bought this thing so it is the newer version of the Bitrunner but not with the EMI protection. I was confusing the version number with the V1 BitZero I have.

My V1 has a red light when the router is NOT running but everything is powered up. When the c2d file turns on the router the light changes to green. There is a manual switch on top of the V1 with 3 positions:

  1. Auto - the Shapeoko controller is in control of the router to turn it on and off.
  2. Off - This will disable the router from coming on no matter what it is commanded to do by the software/controller.
  3. On - This will manually turn on the router providing that the router switch is turned on. My router switch is turned on all the time so the Shapeoko can control my router

I leave mine in Auto 99% of the time. You can turn it off for safety when working on the router and the On position if you just want to see if the router will run.

With the power on the Shapeoko and no job running my led on top of the V1 BitRunner is red and the router is off. When the job starts and turns on the router the light turns green. Additionally in the Auto and Off position of the switch the light is red with no job running. When I switch to on the green light comes on and the router powers up and runs.

When I first got my v1 BitRunner I had issues with the cable that connects on the front of the controller. If I took the case off the controller and put it back together I would have to fidget with the cable to get the router to work in the auto mode. The light was red sometimes or not on at all. I cut the controller housing out so I do not have to take the cable loose when removing the controller cover.

The V2 is definitely different then. No switch, just a button to enable or disable.

So my V1 works with green an red led light on the BitRnner. Plus in Carbide Motion I have the router enabled in the configuration so maybe that is the difference or you just never noticed the light changing color when you are working because it off to the side and out of the line of sight.

It is true that the main Bitrunner unit is around the corner and I never really think about it. The red LED I was referring to is the one on the enable/disable “pendant” which I have mounted to the front of my table.

I just went and checked on the main Bitrunner box. There are no switches unless they require access from the back side. The only light on that box is an orange LED that seems to only indicate connectivity with the pendant. It stays orange regardless of whether the router is enabled/disabled, on or off.
