Why would my zero change by .071 after using the bit zero?
As normal I used the Bit Zero to set the three axis. After the tool did the bit setter cycle I went to the project material and manually zeroed the z axis. The difference between the bit zero and the manual Z is .071. This is not the first time I have had this. The material thickness is correct.
What caused me to do this is I had performed the complete cycle before starting to cut the file. My stepdown was set at .125 the actual depth of cut is .185.
Using a pin in both cases or a bit and is it the same bit for both zeroing operations?
Any chance that the bit slipped in the collet between the operations? If not tightened with both wrenches then maybe one or the other could slightly shift the bit.
I had similar issues months ago and never really found an answer, but I became much more diligent with my process.
I am using the BitZero V1 and using the same bit as doing the carving. I am sure about the tightness, have had the issue with loose bits. I have had this issue in the past and re-zeroing to the material has become mostly a normal part of my process. I just downloaded build 636 and getting use to the difference in the process. Was hoping I could skip the redundant Z zeroing.
