Bit Zero V2 Depth

When using the Bit Zero V2 on my Shapeoko 4XXL and set to a .25 depth it cuts to .35 and same issue with cutouts. Is there a way to change the calculation so it is a consistent depth? I have a bit Setter that came with the machine but I added 3/4 MBF and it doesn’t set height correctly.

Thanks In advance

Hi @SteveEnglish,

What probing sequence are you using ? Any chance you might be probing Z only but with the BitZero v2 overhanging a corner of the stock ?

I set the Bit Zero on the corner the lip over rhe edge. I probe x,y & z.

So just to confirm, once you launch the probing sequence, with the tool initially inside the bitzero hole, it will contact the sides of the hole, and then proceed to touch the bitzero surface ?

Right after probing, if you manually jog down to stock surface after removing the bitzero, what Z value does CM read then ?

Haven’t checked it that way but I will. I will do that shortly and then answer. Thanks for the help. Steve

Julien I found the issue. Mainly it was I am old and I didn’t know how to use the Bet Zero. I was leaving it on the corner instead of on top of the work piece. After putting on top the setting is dead on made test cuts and depth is exact. Thank you so much for helping Steve

Good to hear. You should be able to leave it in a corner if you select the “Probe Corner (Z+,X+, Y+)” and it will compensate for the lip height to set Z correctly. If you want to probe Z only (“Probe Height (Z+)”), indeed you need to lay the BitZero fully on top of the work piece
