Im cutting plaques, multiple from one program that doesnt require a tool change. Before every run, the router is sent to the bitsetter to measure the tool. Running one program over and over, is there a way to skip the tool measure without crashing my machine?
If you are running a single tool file over and over then why not just turn off the BitSetter in the Settings. I take it you are running a job, removing the job and replacing new material in the same place and running the job again. If you have previously set the X and Y they are still set. I have had some issues when turning the BitSetter off. I will rezero Z and start a job and it runs an air job. So no damage. I usually just turn the Shapeoko off and reinitialize and the problem goes away. There is something squirrely in the code when you turn the BitSetter off just power off Shapeoko, power on, initialize then run run run.
I was thinking shutting off the Bitsetter would work, but i wanted to get confirmatiin from others who have more experience than i have. Thank you.
When I started with my Shapeoko 3 there was no BitSetter, BitRunner or BitZero. So I learned to run without all those accessories. The accessories are great but not necessary. The BitSetter does make multi tool jobs easier to run but even the multi tool job is not impossible to run without the BitSetter.
For people that bought their machines with those accessories it is sometimes hard to not use them because you learned with them.
When I got my Shapeoko the dinosaurs still roamed around and I had to be careful that the screaming router did not attract a T-Rex. We lost a lot of good operators to the Tyrannosaurus.
Please lets have a moment of silence for those we have lost along the way.

Here is one of my headless friends. His life cut short by the T-Rex
