BItsetter / Z-Plus install fail

Hi everyone, first post, etc. - I’ve finished the initial assembly and setup on my XXL with the Z-Plus and have successfully run the Hello World, but I’m running into an issue with installing my Bitsetter. There are some threads that seem to be related, but not specifically to the Z-plus.

I’ve got it plugged into the RESERVED pins on my controller, and have followed the online install instructions, but when the probe goes to initialize, the spindle jams down on the Bitsetter repeatedly until in errors out. I’ve managed to uninstall it for now, but I could use some guidance here if anyone has any to offer.

Thanks,

Brian

Does the red LED on the BitSetter light up when you push the button manually ? (with the shapeoko turned on)

If it doesn’t, something’s wrong in the wiring.

I had a similar issue when I installed mine. Try to push down on the button manually as Julien suggested. If it doesn’t move at all, then try tapping on it fairly lightly with a rubber mallet. I found that the button on mine was stuck for some reason and that little bit of force was enough to pop it lose. After that mine has worked perfectly.

Thanks, gang: The button didn’t depress at all, so I tapped it gently with rubber hammer and now it depresses. However, the red light does not turn off - it glows steadily from powering on the unit. Consequently, the probe initialization cycle fails as soon as it gets over the probe - the Z drive never engages.

do you also have a normal touch probe installed?
(the square that also comes with a wire with allegator clip)

Thanks, Will - email sent.

Update: C3 support determined that the initial unit was faulty and sent a replacement. The replacement works perfectly - thanks Support!
