Should I expect to see a 3/4" bowl bit rendered in the basic (free) Carbide Create? I just used it in a design and when I ran the simulation it does not show the curve, just a straight cut.
If it has the same geometry as a ball-nosed tool it may be entered thus and will preview to match.
If it has a flat bottom, no, that geometry is not supported in current versions of Carbide Create.
As @WillAdams indicated a 1/2 and/or 3/4" bowl bit used as a flat end mill will not show the rounded corners. Depending on how big your pocket is it might be best to use offset to less than half of bit diameter and cut that with a regular flat end mill. Then do a new tool path with the bowl bit just along the outside perimeter. A bowl bit would need a small step over on the part that you want flat and take more time to pocket but using a regular flat end mill might go faster and then just use the bowl bit on the outside perimeter to get the rounded edges on the bottom corner.
Thanks for the replies. Got that figured out but up popped another issue. Doing a test run with the bowl bit, my spindle shut down (Error 01) mid job. Looked at related postings regarding power but that wasn’t the issue. Thinking spindle speed/feed rate might be. Would be nice if Carbide could develop a way to shut the whole system down if the controller throws an error code. Spindle stopped but everything else kept going. Thankfully I was next to it and hit the emergency stop. Could have severely damaged the machine otherwise.
