Makes a weird noise when initializing also. Any ideas or help?
Take a look at this link. Are the Limit switches coming on when it checks itself during initialization ?
There is an interface in CM ( somewhere ) that will also show if the limit switches are working.
So all of my switches light up when i put metal in front of them. My gantry can move back and forth freely and my z moves up and down. But when i try to push my x axis to the left it will not move at all.
Did you remove the X-axis shipping bolt?
I looked through all the instructions and could not find anything about it. Am I dumb? Where is the X axis shipping bolt and how do I remove it. Thank you so much in advance.
The folks at support should be able to guide you through this if there isn’t an obvious bolt securing the Z-axis Carrier Plate in position.
My new 5.1 pro did the same thing and before it’s thought to be a bad stepper motor which that was one of the problems first unplug the x axes connector at the stepper motor , that will cause freeing of motion . Oil the ball screw and guides with the oil that came with the machine . Move it back and forth several times the whole length to assure it’s lubed well. As your moving it do you feel a spot where it’s catching by figuring this out slowly move it till you find that spot and remember where it’s at . Then move it back to about the middle . On the left side behind the gantry are two silver hex screws one on top and one on the bottom of the ball shaft , you will use the long side of the wrench and loosen them 1/4 to 1/2 turn they should not be very tight mine came loose easily , then slide it over to the spot where it’s catching and snug up the two screws but not super tight . Then move router back and forth to see if it’s moving smoothly this cured that problem . Plug it in re try and see if it does it again and if it does it’s probably the motor ,they sent me another one and it’s working great . Brandon had me send back the old one. Danny
Also check both y limit switches my back left one needed adjusting it was out of sync with right back one. One was lit and the other wasn’t telling me the one lit was to close.
