Brass branding iron/makers mark

I have several Christmas projects in the works and I’d like to make a quick branding iron.

I really like this idea:

Super simple/cheap with the wood burning kit.

Now for my question: I’m thinking about v carving my initials into the brass - so it’s a burnt circle with letters in the middle. Has anyone v carved brass like this? Think it will work?

I have 0 experience with machining any type of metal and I’m trying to do this quickly!

First off, I am planning on making my own brass branding iron thingy as well, but a “more simple” method of burning your logo is using ammonium chloride and a heat gun.

Also, don’t do what I did and buy a 2.5lb container from Amazon because “It’s only a couple of bucks more.” Uh, it’s going to last me a lifetime unless I open up a factory to knock out wood burned doodads all day long.

Not sure about v carve but Winston Moy has a great video on cutting brass to make a branding iron on the Shapeoko/Nomad:
