I previously suggested having the expressions keep units so that you could work in mm and then enter stock sizes in inches (because I woodwork mostly in inches and machine in mm). Here’s a bug which may increase the need for that!
Problem: when you change the units of your design (inch/mm) the expressions you have previously entered do not update themselves to the new unit. Here’s some steps to reproduce:
setup your design using mm
create a toolpath with max depth t-23 (I’m using about 1" foam and facing it down to 23mm thick)
change the units of your design to inch
Now my toolpath for facing the foam wants to cut to t-23" or about -22" which would be rather impossible instead of cutting it down to 23mm thick.
I was running 726 (I didn’t realize that 729 had been released) but I downloaded 729 and the same problem exists. This is on a Windows machine. Did you enter “t-23” as the max depth or “t-23=” as the max depth?
If I open the file the first toolpath has an estimated time of 9 minutes. If I go to the design setup and change the Job Setup to Unit of inches (instead of mm) then the first toolpath jumps to an estimated 1713 minutes because it is interpreting my “t-23” (mm) as “t-23” (inches).
I specified the unit, I see what you mean when unit isn’t specified.
Whether not specifying the unit and then changing the units is acceptable is an interesting interface question, which I will pose as an interface query.
