Hey guys. Just installed an hdz and Vfd spindle from carbide. I was just wondering, is there anyway to change spindle speed while a file is running? Or is it stuck on the setting from the carbide create file. When I was using my makita router, I would always adjust speed while files were running to get the best cut quality. Thanks!
Spindle speed display & override would be a pretty cool addition to CM. I imagine other G-Code senders have this functionality.
Support just got back to me. They said the Vfd is locked and rpm cannot change during a cut. I really hope one of the wizards on here knows how to get around that. I am always changing rpm/feed rate during cuts when using my router.
You could edit the G-Code and insert S blocks / words to change the spindle speed. But this is not dynamic. It would work for a test cut to determine your best cutting speed though.
The other choice is to use a different G-Code sender other than Carbide Motion that supports Spindle Speed override.
Until we had the VFD Spindle, there wasn’t a great need for spindle speed override but it might be added now that we have the spindles that support it.
