Hey, also, does anyone have a solution for the Cable chain on the left side of the SHapeoko? Mine often times drops off the side rail and then gets caught on that metal platform that I think is suppose to be preventing it from dropping in the first place.
Tried to send the machine to the North one day and CRASH!!! didnt notice what stopped the machine right away, then I looked to the left and saw the cable chain caught on that metal plate
The later machines had drilled and tapped holes for angle mounts, and the proximity switch kit instead includes flat plates which secure with adhesive.
One expedient option is to mount a piece of aluminum angle to the back of the extrusion.
I have a Shapeoko 3 and the gantry cable chain would drop off the back. At first I used double sided tape and put a wider piece of wood. Over time the sticky tape would let loose. So after the chain dropping off the back I had some 1.5" angle iron laying around the shop. I drilled two holes in the angle iron and marked the back of the gantry and drilled and tapped two holes. I have not had the cable chain come off any more. You might consider that for the Y side cable chain. The adhesives on the stock brackets always comes loose eventually. The slightly wider angle iron (or aluminum) would fix the problem permanently. Maybe even two of them one further back and one more forward.
I had just recently replaced the wood so I just left it there until the adhesive fails.
