Can anyone help me with this?

Teaser right? I am trying to set up the toolpath to cut this out from the stock but because it’s not connected how do you create a border that’ll treat it as one solid outline? more like a picture frame edge to the outside.

The interior will get signage glued into it.

How about offset to the outside .025" and run a contour toolpath on the outside of that.

Well how about that, i tried that option but it kept going all the way around and to the inside of the border.

I just deleted the inside geometry of the offset. :sunglasses:

ah ok I was wondering what i was doing wrong.

Secondary question, how do I shave time off this? it’s right at 4 hours! I am not comfortable yet playing with feedrate and speeds, etc… any advise?

Ed since you are a wizard, any idea why on the bottom ribbon there’s one spot that’s not vcarve but looks like it’s plunged in. Doesn’t match the left side??

I’d try one of the 1" spoilboard cutters to do the majority of the pocketing then come back and clean up the corners as needed with a smaller bit. I’m not familiar with rest machining but I believe that comes into play here. I’m sure one of the other members or Will could could chime in here and give further thought on this.

LOL!! A wizard I’m not, just sharing from my own experience. It looks like the overlapping vector is the issue and a simple node edit got things cleaned up.
