Can Start Pos be set?

Noobish questions and maybe asked before, but couldn’t find it…

Can I set a job to start at a specific position in my job? I’m particularly looking at board flattening. The bit I have has cuts that can go pretty deep, but I have to have it start off of the board I want to surface so it can start deeper, but every time I send a job, CC or CM seems to always starts the cut somewhere in the middle of the pocket (maybe pocket is the wrong path I’m using). With the middle as the starting place, it limits the depth the tool can plunge, because the center of the tool gets in the way. This makes it to where I have to limit how far I can cut down, and makes surfacing take much longer than I think it should.

Hope my question make sense.

Sounds like you want a facing path instead of a pocketing path?

What Tyler said ^^

If you use a pocket path and make the boundary a bit bigger than the actual stock it will start off the workpiece.

Another option is to just draw your own toolpath and use a contour path with no offset to follow it.

I’m assuming a facing path is a feature of Create Pro?
Which I don’t have

Correct, Pro feature, but with a bit of patient drawing and judicious us of the Array command one can manually create such a path as described in the link above.
