Can’t access folders

Windows forced an update in the middle of a project and suddenly Carbide Motion cannot open any folders where my project files are stored. The cursor just sits there spinning like it is thinking of opening the folders on my computer, but nothing happens. I updated to the latest version of Carbide Motion and still nothing happens. Anyone else with this issue?

Which version of Windows (10 or 11?) updated to what build?

Where are the files you are trying to access stored?

Complete filepath?

Windows attacks again. You can delay updates during critical periods by up to 5 weeks (Win 11) if you wish. You should update if possible but I used to work in enterprise computing and during end of quarter and/or end of year processing updates were forbidden for the very reason you are experiencing. Things change during updates and can cause big headaches. Go in to Settings and Windows Updates and choose to delay updates by the specified time. I remember Win 10 only let you delay by 7-14 days but I do not run Windows 10 anymore and that may have changed.

I’m running windows 10.

The folder is C:Users:Dauntless:Downloads

I’m simply trying to run the Easel program like I have done many times before

What permissions does Easel use when writing out files?

If you create a file with Carbide Create and copy it to that folder can Carbide Motion see it?

No, carbide motion can’t get into any folders on my computer currently. I click “load new file”, it opens the window, and then gets stuck.

Does Carbide Create have this same problem?

No, Carbide create can access file explorer just fine. Carbide motion still can’t though

I can’t imagine that there’s anything different in how the two applications were written, so if they behave differently it would have to be a problem with the underlying OS.

I uninstalled the windows update and tried again, but no success.

Some times you have to install applications by right clicking the install icon and select all users. That elimates permission issues. Same for some fonts.
