Can you put a larger spindle in the Z-plus?

Is height a problem?

No answers? Is the height of a larger spindle a problem?

I’d guess weight is a bigger issue than height.

For instance, this 65mm spindle is 8lbs vs the makita which is 4lbs

Z-plus only supports the included 69/65mm mount, so that is one restriction. Unless you modify or make your own mount.

Z-plus also uses a lead screw for linear motion, which is less efficient than a ball screw (HDZ) requiring more force to turn, additional weight of a spindle may need to be considered (at least for 80mm spindles) with the steppers torque rating and [de]acceleration+velocity settings in GRBL.
Also the lead screw uses an anti-backlash nut that would be considered a consumable (wear 'n tear) part, additional weight will degrade its lifespan.

Height is only really an issue if your Shapeoko is in an enclosure and will clear the Z axis stepper mount+motor

The Z-Plus intro video says that the lead screw is less suitable for heavy spindles, but the info on the Carbide store could do with being a bit clearer.
