Carbide 3 Maintenance

Has anyone received solid information on how to maintain the Carbide 3D? All I see is info on using Super Lube. The machine is initially shipped with grease on the lead screws. Grease is generally not a great product when you use a machine that like that throws up so much fine debris.

I would think a general practice would be to wipe the grease completely off and apply new grease, if grease was the desired substance.

I would expect a little more info on this topic, as it seems everyone is asking about it.

I’ve had my machine for about 1.5 months and already it is making some scraping noises, which sounds like it is coming from the spindle and axes. Not cool.

I may have a new machine with accessories up for sale cheap soon.

Which machine do you mean?

For a Shapeoko HDM, Pro, or SO3/4 w/ an HDZ and for the Z-axis on a Nomad 3 see:

For the X and Y on a Nomad 3, or for an 883 Pro or Classic see:

Nomad 3.

I really hope you get more life than 10 hours out of these things

Ok if I can use vactra 2 on the screws that is fine. My cnc mill and lathe takes that anyway.

I didn’t see instructions for this in the Nomad 3 manual. There should be a very concise and straight forward set of maintenance instructions since I am seeing a lot of people that buy these are not machinists.
