Carbide 3D Tech Support

There’s times when compliments and credit aren’t given when it should be and I try to show my appreciation whenever I can.

I was having issues with my Shapeoko 5 and it continued to go off the programed path while I was cutting plaques. There wasn’t any pattern of when this would happen, at the beginning, in the middle, and even in the last 4 minutes of cutting a plaque. As you can imagine, I was loosing my patience and getting pretty frustrated.

I contacted Technical Support at Carbide 3D and we tried a number of things attempting to replicate the issues. After multiple emails going back and forth testing a number of things, we were still stumped.

I think my emails were answered by the entire Tech team, all of them did their best to help me out but no luck. I suggested a FaceTime call to see if there was something I was missing in my emails. Fleming Valenzuela was the lucky guy who my suggestion went to.

The FaceTime call was set up and within a few minutes into the call something I did at Fleming’s direction told him there was a short somewhere between the Z axis motor and the first wire harness the motor plugged into.

Fleming said he would send me a new motor and wire harness. I received both items earlier this week, installed both and fired up the Shapeoko 5. I had four plaques to cut, each taking about five hours each to cut. (My next post will ask the 3D Community for help in reducing the cutting time).

Well today I finally finished all the plaques and started sanding and finishing them.

I can’t thank Fleming and the entire Team at Carbide 3D who helped me out, I really appreciate everything all of you have done for me.
