Carbide Create 645, Now with all new (maybe better) simulation rendering!

All 3 seem to work OK on my system with software being a bit slower rotating and panning the rendering.

After about 20 tries, I restarted my computer and finally got the Software option to open  Still very buggy though. I can’t draw vectors, change stock size, load projects ect.

Both worked for me. The ANGLE version is definitely much faster when moving the simulation around.

This is on my older Win 10 machine with an NVIDIA GTX950 card.

We just uploaded 646 to https://carbide3d.com/carbidecreate/beta . This build removes the two extra icons but adds a View->Use ANGLE Rendering menu option for people who have problems with simulations not showing up. (Only for Windows users)

Once the rendering is changed, the program MUST be restarted for it to take effect.

Rob, 646 did not recognize my Pro license on my MacBook. I reloaded it from from file and it seems to take but when I restart CC it’s not the Pro version and the license has to be reloaded.

Damn. New build coming…

Ok, grab 647 from https://carbide3d.com/carbidecreate/beta and it should be fixed. Sorry about that.

Rob, if you are not having any issues with “standard” rendering, is there any advantage to using ANGLE?

Not really, it just adds a shim library that converts OpenGL to DirectX. Some users find it a little snappier, but I don’t think it would be a huge difference.

Do the command line arguments still work? i.e. could we still use the icons if we wanted to?

Toolpaths that don’t go all the way through stock are still visible on bottom side. For some reason I don’t remember this with previous builds. Is this a new feature or something?

Build 647 BTW.

Yes, but --angle is equivalent to clicking the Use ANGLE Rendering option in that it will persist between runs. We added --desktop to uncheck Use ANGLE Rendering and go back to desktop OpenGL. That will also persist.

We don’t make any effort to hide the back of the simulation so anything could happen there. The ANGLE rendering has a less accurate depth buffer so it’s possible that two items that are coplanar could look different in ANGLE mode.

Just tried to grab CC 647 and it’s saying the beta isn’t available… 645 is the latest one I have. Is there another coming?

CC648 is now the stable release:
