Brand new S5Pro owner – am I right in thinking that Carbide Create and Carbide Motion can run on different computers as long as they both have access to a common file system of some sort (local network file server, MS OneDrive, DropBox, etc.) where CC can create a file and CM can load it?

Yes, CC can run on a separate computer as long as you have a way to get the file to the computer that has to be connected to the machine via CM installed on it.
