Make plans to join us live. I’ll have some prepared topics as well as plenty of time for specific questions. Fleming of Carbide 3D Support will be joining the show.
We look forward to seeing you there:
Tentative Topics List:
How to utilize the 3D Tool
When to use the 3D Tool
Organizing Layers
Layers / Toolpath Groups
Flipping an object
Using Hot Keys (shortcuts)
The Zoom Link info is below. Bring your questions!
The more participation we get in these shows, the more inclined we are to spend the time setting them up
Topic: Carbide Create Live - Ep. 3

finally watched the replay. Great session Kevin (Opie ), Fleming, Will…
I learned a few things.
A couple comments…
For 3D components, a way to remember how you constructed them is to name them accordingly, such as “Base Round 45° 0.25H Add”, “Logo STL 0.125H Subtract”, etc…
You mentioned that using the “Scale Height” for a round object may not actually be that height depending on the angle. I believe that’s misleading. The angle will get scaled, for sure, but the height when using Scale Height or Limit Height will be the height you choose.
Another consideration for 3D projects is using a hybrid approach. Cut anything that can be cut in 2D using 2D toolpaths, then only cut the 3D portion using 3D paths. This will save a lot of time when there are larger areas that can be done with 2D. Care must be taken to get the 3D & 2D paths to align, especially in the Z axis, and creating the “ON” condition boundaries for the 3D paths.
Hotkeys. I think you only missed the “E” hotkey for library. Not sure what “E” is for? or how to easily remember it. Library → Encyclopedia ???
Hotkeys show up in the menus for features that have hotkeys, but do not show up on the tooltips for the buttons which have no corresponding menu item. Adding hotkeys to the tooltip popups would promote using the hotkeys.
Again, great session, lots of useful information. Well done, guys
