I just switched to version 667 of Carbide Motion from 640 so I can use the Jog Pendant. Since then I’ve lost USB connection multiple times. The only difference is the newer version. Cables are managed well and the same so it’s not a physical thing. I like the Jog Pendant and don’t want to revert back, but the disconnection is frustrating.
Thoughts?
I have been running CM 667 since it came out. I have had no disconnects. Every computer and Shapeoko is different but disconnects are almost always static. There are exceptions but the majority of disconnects are static related.
Have you reverted back to the older version and run the same jobs? The weather is hot and depending on where you live the air may be dryer than it was before. Moving Air (dust collection) and a spinning bit are a breading ground for static.

Thanks for the info. I haven’t reverted back just yet. Thinking about it, I did relocate the wire cover over the cable from the controller to the PC to make room for a vacuum pump. I’m going to do a good cleaning to remove the fine dust, reseat the cables, and give it a run to see. I’ve not had static issues in the past. The shop is conditioned space with very stable humidity. I did try this version when it first came out and had similar issues, so I reverted back to 640. Then the only change in the system was the software and going back solved the issue. I’m trying not to fixate on that so a solution can be found.

Since the first post, I double checked all USB connections, cleaned the fine dust, and adjusted the cable management. Since then, I’ve had no issues with connection loss. Staying with 667 since I’ve been loving the Jog Pendant.
