Carbide Motion New Install Help Needed

I’m working on setting up a dedicated fusion5 tablet. I’ve installed Motion, got the MSVCP140dll error, found the solution here in the forums, fixed it, opened motion, plugged in machine, connected, went into settings and selected SOProxxl with bitzero checked - maybe that was bitsetter (can’t remember, but may not be relevant anyway), sent the configuration data, and initialized the machine.

Machine initialized to back right corner. Moves forward to center for tool install.

Here’s where the trouble is… instead of coming over for the bitsetter after I hit resume, it heads to the back right again and proceeds to drop the z axis in search of the bitsetter switch.

It’s gotta be some simple setting somewhere, but I don’t see it. I’m sure it’s one of those “if it were a snake it would have bitten me” kinds of things, but I could use a hint, please.

On a VERY positive note, though, when I plugged my original computer back into the machine, everything works fine. Phew!!!

You need to power up, connect to the machine, skip initialization, go to the Settings, disable the BitSetter by clearing the checkbox — you will then be able to initialize (it won’t try measuring the tool w/ the BitSetter at the wrong location).

Then, enable the BitSetter per:

 Awesome! Will try again after work tomorrow! Thanks a million!!!

Got it! Now I’ve just got to figure out how to get a file from Dropbox into Motion. I’m saving it as normal, but it says there’s no G-Code file in the Dropbox.

I’m off to do some reading.

  • Update - read a few posts… figured out the separate file type save. All good! Dang, I love the CC Community!

** Unrelated, but EXCELLENT podcast today, btw! If you read this, check it out… Just sayin’.

Thanks again!
