Carbide3d Router Runout .75mm!?

Hello,

I’ve been having runout issues since the beginning. I’m working on a small scale project now and found that it’s impossible to get details. I don’t expect it to be perfect, but from what it seems as good vs bad runout, I’m experiencing extreme runout of .75mm.

I don’t have a tool to measure, but I’ve been using several v bits and taper bits. All make holes in a circular pattern with a diameter of about .75mm. Also when cutting a line across the workpiece, the ends of the holes should come to a tip, but it actually is a .75mm flat area between the tapered walls.

Do I just have a bad router or am I doing something wrong?

Actually, I tried the precision collets, world of difference. No perceptible runout on vbits! Wow wouldn’t have thought since the default collet on the router looks almost identical.
