Running iMac with OSX 10.15.7, 2.5ghz dual core intel i5, 16gb ram, intel hd graphics 4000
Not sure why all of a sudden I’m getting this but I had CC 530 for a while now, created a design and tool path, saved file. Went to open it days later and it will open fine and I can work on it but as soon as I go to tool path and simulate it will start progress bar and crash.
I reinstalled CC 530 and same issue, upgraded to 623 and same issue. Created a new file imported the sag and created a new tool path , hit simulation and same issue.
At a loss here and I need to get this project carved soon. Was hoping today but that doesn’t look like its going to happen.
I can post the crash log here but its quite long so I don’t know if you need it all or just a certain portion of it.
Thanks for the advise. I tried that site and it does’t work for me either. Every time I open any NC file it just says an unexpected error occurred and the website reloads. Weird.
Anyways, I get your point about just skipping the simulation but it helps me determine that Im not making a mistake on the final product and in this case I wouldn’t know until further into the carve so I like to visualize it. Maybe I’ll try other NC file viewers.
Also, just wanted to add my other iMac that is still running CC 530 works fine and it is the computer I created the original file on. So I figured it may be the file but I’ve already tried to load many other files with the same result and even created a new file with the same result so it has to be my specific machine, software related. I think I did an OS update this past week so I think that has something to do with it.
Curious. It could be ncviewer needs chrome, and not safari? I’m not sure about that though.
An update to the OS might be the culprit. Others are experiencing recent crashes during simulations on macOS. Perhaps the version of OpenGL has altered, which might change things.
Hopefully you’ll get some form of confirmation of your toolpaths from a different ncviewer.
Just to double check, try posting the first 20 or 30 lines from one if the gcode files that fail to work with ncviewer here. No need for the whole file, a snippet should be good enough. Helps to verify if any gcode actually has been created.
As @Gerry found in another thread, Apple released an updated driver for the HD4000 in 10.15.7 to fix a security hole and they broke a ton of apps that depend on OpenGL, like Carbide Create. From what I’ve read, there’s almost no fix that can be made at an application level. We have to wait for Apple to fix it in 10.15.8, or upgrade to a newer version of the OS.
We’ll keep poking around but it doesn’t look good for 10.15.7.
For now, I’m using the wife’s Imac which hasn’t done the OS update to do my designs and simulate, then save the files individually and run them off my Imac connected to the shapeoko.
Just wanted to post an update that I’ve done two os updates today (one was a security patch and the other I think was something insignificant), I’m still on OS 10.15.7 and carbide create is now working for me and showing simulation properly. So something must have fixed it.
We are about a month ahead since your last update and it is still not working for me. The same problem with CC, crash when trying to simulate. Any idea when this will be fixed? I’m trying to decide what to buy eventually but when this will take months again I’ll go for something else…
UPDATE: Somehow it is working again, I didn’t change anything other than updating MacOS to version 12.1
If you had the driver problem, then it looks like it was fixed in MacOS12, just not 10.15. I think we expected that (trying to clear the brain fog from the holidays), but it’s good to get confirmation from someone that made the upgrade.
I think it was MacOS 12, I upgraded both machines before Christmas but haven’t been able to do much with the CNC until now. Glad it’s working again, I hope that it’s also solved for other Mac users!
