Hey im wondering how can i change line with on projects, on some of my projects some lines are so fine that what ever v bit i use it just routers it so fine that its barely noticable, how can i change this, i want the lines to be thicker
Given a drawing which has a nested pair of geometries so as to create a line of a given width when assigned a V carving:
In order to increase the width of the V carving one most increase the distance between the two geometries.
Select the outer and offset to the outside:
The select the inner and offset to the inside:
Then edit the toolpath:
Deselect the geometry by shift-clicking on it and add the offset geometry:
Ok
Could you do this on some cursive writing and line work? If a line is like less than a 1/16th wide and i want to make it 1/8 wide
Yes. If you would post a file you’re having difficulty we’ll do our best to work through this with you.
If you have a single line and you want to cut it 1/8 wide, then just put a 1/8" bit in the machine and run the exact same .nc file.
So long as you don’t go too deep, it will “draw” your shape as if you had a thicker nib on your pen.
Tragically Hip maple leaf.c2d (1.6 MB)
Something like this i would like to increase the line widths a bit
also something like this the design for the bottom and top floral portions, they ended up being so thin almost didnt even cut
Milner.c2d (2.1 MB)
Best thing is to use a more acute V endmill which will minimize variation.
Select and group everything:
but first zoom in and determine how much you can offset:
It has to be one-third of that or less
Then offset, delete the original, and (re)assign the toolpath.
Ok so got that, now when i have like 4 or 5 off set lines which ones do i select and how do i make it go deeper? or do i just select the outside and inside offset lines and the distance between the two will be how far my v bit goes down and that will be my selected depth
Select and process each bit of geometry in turn.
If you get stuck on a file post it and we’ll work through it with you.
