Cheap Dust Hose Support

I have an XXL, and my dust hose is too heavy and droopy to stay up and out of the way. To fix that, I picked up a fiberglass wire running kit from harbor freight for 8 bucks. The sections are pretty stiff and screw together so you can assemble as many segments as you want. Need more lift? Use two stick side by side.

I have the hose connected to a fixed fitting at the middle left of my table. It droops pretty badly in the center and gets in my way.

I put together a few segments of the rod and used zip ties to suspend the hose. At the base I used hose clamps, but a few zip ties would probably have worked too.

Zip ties, hose clamps, rubber bands and velcro are all options. I started by drilling a 1/4" hole in my table and shoving one end of the rod down there. It worked, but the positioning was bad. The threads on each section are M4, so you could attach things in between each segment with your own threads, or use that to mount it to some kind of base. Lots of possibilities.

Brilliant!!! I wonder how it would work if you just put the sticks inside the hose?

It probably would be a little straighter. Mounting the base end would be tricky, but that could work if you didn’t want it on the outside.

I just mounted a jack chain to the ceiling and looped it where it held the hose out of the way in the center of the machine.
Easy to move around if needed.

The ceiling on my shop is tall, and I have the whole tool on wheels so I can clean under it and move things around as needed. Yours is a great solution though if you aren’t planning on moving things.
