Clearance problem between v-wheel and belt tightening clip

I have the Shapeoko 3 XXL and have recently had issues when trying to run the initialization sequence. I have discovered that the v-wheel on the Z-plus (top right) is rubbing against the belt clip on the right hand side of the X axis, where it would be when trying to initialize. The friction caused by the collision is causing the Z plus to sort of vibrate trying the reach the limit of travel. If I push on the Z plus during the init it go ahead and finish. There is just not enough clearance between the v-wheel and the belt clip. I take note it looks like it has been rubbing for some time as the v-wheel is chewed up somewhat. I need to figure out what needs to be done to correct the problem.

Picture of the problem area attached.

Thanks.

You should be able to loosen the belt, cant the belt anchor away from the V wheel, then re-tighten and have clearance.

The belt holder needs to be loosened with an allen wrench and then held square with a pair of needle nose pliers and then tighten the allen screw. Without holding the belt holder it will tent to move in the direction of the v wheel due to torque applied when tightening the screw. Many people have had this issue. Just hold the belt holder and it will clear. There is not much clearance but it works.

Or you could go with brute force approach and Dremel 1mm off the left side of that clip. “A friend of mine” did that, but that’s only him, not an official recommendation.

It is designed just a little close.

I didn’t bother loosening the screw, just used a pair of pliers to rotate the clip out of the way.

If that fails then I think Julien’s friend has the right idea in shaving a bit off the clip
