It would be great to customize the tool change location, similar to the way the bitsetter location is set. The default tool change location is not ideal for my setup/workflow.

Yep it would be nice.
Agree. On recent project, tool change was about an inch in into the workpiece. Kept having to either pull the collet off to make the changes. Minor pain.
